This whole mess isn't good for McCain. He should oppose it loudly.
The problem is: He is just as terrified as the rest of the political class in Washington.
No doubt he and Obama will probably emerge from their meeting with Bush (assuming it goes forward) and both will do the "well normally I would oppose this but..."
They are politicians... They can't see past the next election. (Which thankfully is only 45 days away).
