Seriously, Steve...

Try to look at it from our point of view. We're talking Wall Street here, the banking system, the big investment houses, the very center of the capitalist heart of the planet, at the very end of a two-term neocon-dominated administration that has inherited and entrenched the Reagan Revolution. This is the very Eye of the Beast. If it were a movie, the plot would be as unrealistic a month ago as "China Syndrome".

Now the whole system has tanked, and those who have consistently defended it and promoted it and championed it suddenly tell us that it is
"the other side" that made it happen? Be honest, can you really blame us for being just a tad skeptical?

The last time something like this happened was almost 80 years ago, and there were no liberals back then to provoke it, so there is a precedent. And since the New Deal reforms were introduced, nothing remotely like that has happened until now, this administration, this President, this market. So maybe you scrutinize the internet for scraps of evidence to back up your thesis, and maybe some of them are even right, after all, this is a very big and complex phenomenon, but honestly, can you really blame the rest of us if we can only gaze in slack-jawed wonder and amazement at your brief and your case?

As for justice, that's not my department, and you won't get any I-told-you-sos from me, after all, I am probably going to take a financial bath in this meltdown, at a time in my life when I'm really not prepared to deal with it. And my house is paid off and my assets are not in stocks. I did not profit from whatever excesses led to this, but I will almost certainly suffer from it. As will probably all of us here.

But rightly or wrongly, fairly or not, this event will do the same thing to the Republican Party the Great Depression did to it in 1930. maybe that's not justice, but it is a reasonable prediction.
