RE: Non-sequitur
Well, I'm still not convinced that the conclusion follows from the premise...
Non sequitur (Latin for "it does not follow."), in formal logic, is an argument where its conclusion does not follow from its premises.
Especially where and "hocus pocus" is concerned. IE, if we believe there's an omniscient old man (or flying spaghetti monster, or capricious leprechauns and unicorns) in the sky somewhere waving a magic wand about, how do we know what that wand is capable of (figuratively speaking) or whether it abides by any particular set of rules?
The point about Lemâitre is moderately interesting though. And the Big Bang does seem to be a modern day "creation story" with its own set of creative metaphysics.
But, again, religious debates often go south. Real quick. So, I'll leave off there.
