I've done the numbers before, several times, and they never stick, do they? We spend more every single year on entitlements and social spending than the cost of the entire Iraq war to date, even assuming the wildly inflated trillion-dollar figure usually tossed around.
Every single year. And this will increase. The war in Iraq is ending.
Add a single-payer health care benefit, and that amount would increase again by three quarters of a trillion, minimum.
Where does all this money come from? Dissolve and cash in the entire net wealth of the top 400 richest people in America, stocks, bonds, estates, planes, you name it, and it would pay for this for less than a year. Who do you eat the next year?
