>1) We basically won. (...the war in Iraq).
And at what cost? You forget, we didn't go in to give all those poor Iraqi women in black burkas purple fingers. It was spun that way. What we did was declare war on a sovereign country that wasn't a threat to us and bombed the bejeesus out of them with "Shock and Awe". We've trashed most of our military ground equipment and disturbed or distressed or RUINED hundreds of thousands of lives. I guess the "democracy" thing comes first in your mind though.
>2) The Federal government spends a trillion dollars every four months. If the war in Iraq had never happened, we would have bought ourselves four additional months.
To me that's looking at it backwards. Like "we beat the shit out of Johnny, he defacated all over the floor and was bloody and couldn't walk after. He'll be sterile his whole life, but he only lost one tooth. What's one tooth when he has 23 more of them?"
>3) The cost of the war is dwarfed by the entitlement expenses that are actually going to wreck the economy. Entitlement costs are about $1.2 trillion every year.
I like how you use the word "entitlement". We pay taxes for those entitlements". Every week.
>Every economist points to Medicare as the prime culprit.
Well, at this rate 95% of us are going to need it. And again we are looking at our broken "insurance" system as it relates to health, in this country. That whole system is broken.
>4) Anybody who has told you the main problem with our economy is the war in Iraq is operating from ignorance.
It was a needless expense and a waste of our taxpayers' money. And it created a laundry list of abuses within this government. That's my beef right there. Bush wouldn't have gotten away with his power grab and criminal offenses if it hadn't been for his invasion of Iraq.
