Sounds painfullly primitive, but it teaches composition, focus, shutter speeds and nurtures creativity in the budding photographer, the mid to late 80's film cams like x-700 or nikons or pentax are cheep and can be picked up for less than 100 bucks at swap meets or craig's list even a whole outfit with case real cheep. Just check the battery compartment to see if it is clean and not corroded. If their is a photo club or community college in area see if you can enroll in camera basics, before you go out and buy the glitzy S5 Fuji or Nikon 12 megapixel, learn the basics and you'll be ahead af the game. My first 35 mm camera in late 60's was used alot, shot 3-4 rolls a week just using it and clipped coupons from local paper for Kodak Kodachrome slide development for 24 exposures at 2.99 cents! Ahh, good ol days
