Of course there are better Republicans for the job. It says a lot that they are willing to go with Palin, a woman who probably looked good on the surface.
I think McCain picked her in a moment of dejected panic. On the surface she is bright, articulate, attractive and well-spoken. It's only when one looks behind the beauty pageant stage that her hollowness, emptiness, ignorance and ridiculousness become apparent.
McCain made an impulse purchase, and now, I'm sure, profoundly regrets it.
I think the Republican powers that be could control any Republican President. It is apparent, however, that no Republican President could enact any of his agenda. He could block the Democratic agenda but he/she would be helpless with the Democratic Congress which looks to be more of a sure thing than the Obama win.
