Re: For Christ's sake

My idea of morality is based on the golden rule, I won't do anything to people I wouldn't want them to do to me, and I expect the same from them. Jesus taught the rule, but it did not originate in Christianity, many religions, some much older, espouse it. Most violate it at one time or another.

I am an atheist, personally, I don't believe there is a conscious intelligence that created the universe, much less that still manages it. I certainly can't imagine how anyone could claim to know what this being's plans for us and the universe are. I may be wrong, of course, if there was such a being, he, she, them, or it might certainly be able to hide its presence from me. But if that's the case then the deity has no business being surprised or upset if I don't believe.

As long as the golden rule is not violated, (I won't split hairs here, you know what I'm talking about) I really don't care what homosexuals do. It's none of my business. Their homosexuality is simply not an issue, just like I don't care whether they are left handed, have red hair, are nearsighted, walk with a limp, suffer from toothache, or have flat feet.

And if someone's religion can't accept that what do they expect me to do about it? Drop everything I'm doing and suddenly believe their nonsense? I can't accept the primary principle of their belief, why should I care about some little detail?

Religionists are just going to have to accept that most of us don't care what they think.
