I am about to walk my talk. I am going to my hometown in two weeks to witness my best friend and also my cousin marry her life partner of 22 years. NY just passed the gays right to get married.
I offered to walk my cousin down the aisle to give her away. Her father will not, because she is gay. Thankfully a very close uncle to us has stepped up to the plate for the honors.
I have very strong feelings that I need to be there. I am so proud of these lovely caring compassionate mothers of three children. They have seen me through some pretty dark years. As I have for them.

I sense trouble within the family with this...and I want to be there to support my girls.

I go with no expectations of fixing anything among the closed minded, but I have enough cheerleader in me to drown out the negative energy the ones who oppose the celebration will try to force upon us.
