No, REB, the country is OURS, all of us!
It's my job and YOUR job to reign in any excesses. I will be e-mailing my representative and my Senators on issues as they come up. And maybe the White House, too. I expect everyone else to do the same. If the excesses aren't reigned in, it's because nobody spoke up and said, "This far and no further!"
He is your President, too, so voice your concerns as issues arise.
