I spoke for a few minutes with a friend at work. I called her to "commiserate" for her candidate's loss. She was a McCain/Palin supporter. She said that Obama scared her. I didn't have time (had to get back to work) to ask her why but I can fill in the blanks.
I told her that I didn't understand her fears but that her feelings are valid. I told her that I hoped after he begins the job, her fears will go unrealized. She agreed that that would be a good thing. I know she'll give him a chance even though she went to bed before they called it because she was severely depressed over the impending loss. I hope I made my friend a bit less depressed.
I'm sorry that everybody can't support Obama and I do acknowledge your reservations. The only thing I ask is that you give him a fair chance to prove himself.
I hear you.
