In my opinion, this is the most egregious meme out there today. Bush did very little to prevent another terrorist attack on the US. The terrorists could have struck anytime and in a devastating manner, perhaps more viciously than 9/11. I could have planned and carried out the damned thing at very little cost given our extremely porous borders and huge vulnerabilities in places like ports, oil and gas depots, malls, schools, etc. and I have no skills at all in that area.
Many of us believe that terrorist leaders chose not to attack Bush again because the effects of the attack could have been politically damaging to the administration and they'd lose the reactionary mentality that played right into their hands. Bin Laden's stated goal was bankrupting the US economy and drawing us into a fight on their terms. Tell me how that didn't occur. Why would he need to strike again on our soil during Bush's term?
Come on, think like a chess player instead of making our situation into some "Die Hard" movie plot.
