Osama's stated goal was to get the US into a war in the Middle East.
He was hoping that Bush would go to war over there where it would be easier to get at Americans. He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.
And the incredibly expensive "Homeland Security" measures we've taken, including but not limited to taking away knives from people on Fourth of July picnics and airline waiting lines, accomplish the same thing as a terrorist attack. There doesn't need to be another attack on US soil.
