Better yet...live on skid row.

And not just for a day or a week. Spend at least six months.

Learn how to live as the poor do. Dump all the credit cards, checkbooks and cash, pretend your resume and education doesn't exist. Cut yourself off from your family and friends. Sustain yourself from scratch.

It should be on the checklist of every person who is about to inherit a great deal of money, if they have even half a brain. Learn what it's like to live among the prostitutes, drug dealers and gangs. Learn how to develop street "cred" with those whose fortunes consist of a place to sleep indoors. Learn fear and learn mastery of fear. Learn how to look into the barrel of a gun and befriend the man on the other end. Know what it's like to go to bed hungry, to pay in pennies and learn to see beneath people's exteriors. Be able to deal with all races. Learn how poverty and insecurity is the great common foe.

Once one has truly been poor, and been poor by choice, only then can one see wealth in perspective and know how to use it wisely. Only then can one see poverty and great wealth as equals - giving neither mastery over one's life or mind. One doesn't hate the rich or the poor. One learns to understand both.

At that point, either winning the lottery or losing it all can happen in the next instant and one doesn't even blink an eye.

Treat those two imposters the same.
