re: Space And The Obama Administration

"Given the expected budget squeeze and huge deficits, there is little expectation that NASA will receive sufficient funds to carry out all aspects of its moon-Mars exploration program on the current schedule. President-Elect Obama has no stake in, and no obligation to continue, the Vision for Space that President Bush started in 2004."

NASA is mostly a Job Program. Obama is a Democrat. Obama is probably going to increase the amount money going to various and new types of job programs. Obama is likely to least continue or increase money to the Job Program called NASA.

As for the Bush Vision for Space. It's mostly about continuing NASA present budgetary levels and shifting the focus of NASA manned program from ISS to the Moon and then Mars.

I think it just as likely that Obama will increase NASA's budget as compared keeping about the same. The worse the economic troubles, the more likely it is

What would be changing Bush Vision for Space? Well, continuing the Shuttle program significantly beyond 2010.
Or focusing more on ISS- say plan on doubling it mass over the next decade.
If the Shuttle is still flying in 2011 and adds another module on top of current plans or keeps one that might been cancelled, it's not much of a change.

Delaying Ares isn't a "change" it what has been happening- it's a continuation and admitting to what is true at the moment.
Meanwhile, X-Space is attempting to launch at or before the new year. Chances are it will fail in some way, but they planning on a couple launches this coming year.
