Having low expectations does have the advantage of the possibility of being pleasantly surprised.
But I think predicting the "worst 4 years, ever", is perhaps a bit unreasonable. It's sort of like blaming Bush for the global cooling during his terms, when obviously it's been due to the Gore Effect.
