I want them to do what I can't, be bigger than life, to effortlessly achieve that for which I struggle. I don't want them out working the fields, especially destroying the fields, or zipping through the air in huge machines with running lights.
I don't blame people who will settle for destructive little illiterate aliens with serious problems communicating. They have to live with their standards, with their expectations, and they will get what they want. I'm willing to wait for a quality alien who is interested in relating to me, not an alien who aimlessly lays down patterns in fields some poor bloke as worked hard to cultivate and says "maybe you can get a message out of that somehow". Besides "screw this farmer". What am I supposed to do, go stomp "hello" in a field somewhere and hope and alien sees it? "Do you like your coffee with leptons or hadrons?" By the time I got that all in some farmer's family will be starving and I may wlll get shot. My experience with farmers is that they have very little patience with critters who mess with their crops.
Gnome sayin'? (I think that sort of language is closer to true alien communication to mankind.)
Peace to all alien-loving peoples and things everywhere in the universe,
Arf
