create your solid, create your 3-d model, no light effects or color, just hidden surfaces. Then save various isometric images of the solid in black & white. Open the bitmaps in Paint or Photoshop, draw lines that show the striations, then use paint function to fill in areas with color. Cheap, quick, and no one will ever know the difference.
