Think about it. Watching the way Israel and the US act and listening to what they say, noticing that the US has Iran boxed in on the Afghan and Iraqi borders any rational Iranian leader would want a nuclear weapon. They'd have to be crazy not to.
So, what can the international community do to prevent it?
War. That won't stop them and would raise so much hell over such a wide area that no one would win. And you'd have a truly angry Iran which had a nuclear weapon. What would the US do? We'd build nukes.
Sanctions. Iran is terribly vulnerable. A blockade, an act of war, could even cut off gasoline, as Iran has little refining capacity could bring a lot of suffering. Won't stop them. That would reinforce their accurate perception their country is threatened and knowing that no nation with nukes has been invaded will suffer anything to get nukes. Again, the people would suffer, and just get mad. What would the US do? We'd build nukes. They're humans, too, who love their own country, too.
Diplomacy. Won't work. Might slow it down. Won't stop it. They are not madmen, they will protect their country themselves rather than rely upon third-party guarantees. They'd be crazy to trust the word of the US, Russia or Israel.
The world may as well get used to the idea that Iran will get a nuclear weapon. As would any sane nation in the circumstances in which they find themselves.
Remember, the truth doesn't care whether anyone likes it or not.
