One of the explanation for the bonuses was the need to retain "quality people" to turn the business around. Funny thing, 11 of these executives immediately left the premises after collecting their bonuses. No doubt this is because in our perfect free market economy they could get better paying jobs with their sterling records of accomplishment.
I probably agree the government can't due much about this, but AIG could have. As they said on CNN last night - deny the bonuses and let them try and convince a jury they deserved them. The government can fire the guy that chose not to fight those bonuses and we can fire the congressman next election who failed to provide protetcion against these shenanigand when they approve dbail-out funding. My support for bail-outs is over unless the people responsible for this mess start paying big time. The banks insured by AIG have been made whole while the taxpayer foots the bill.
ANYONE WO STILL BELIEVES THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH EXECUTIVE PAY IN THIS COUNTRY IS BRAIN DEAD.

Mark
