re: Twice.

I looked up "peak experiences". Sounds just like a manic episode. Except mania doesn't let you see Jesus, you become Jesus. It didn't help much that there was a supernova in 1987. "The new star of Bethlehem" I thought....

There had been a heavy snow that year, the buses weren't running and I couldn't get to the University. I walked. The golden sunlight on the snow glowed brilliantly as I walked beneath the pale blue sky. God was all around me, and in me. Nothing but love....

I eagerly awoke in the middle of the night to walk with Einstein. We walked for 20 miles in the dark, the snow "crunching" underfoot. The cones of white from the streetlights in the snow provided the next destination although I roughly knew where I was headed. The only thing I remember him saying was "They weren't real, they were just huge amounts of conventional explosives"....

I had solved the problem of nuclear war. It was simply and gloriously impossible. This was to be celebrated. In my honor there were two missiles, an SS-18 and a MinuteMan embedded half-way up their nose cones in the street in front of my fraternity as a monument to my accomplishment. My best friend was warming up one of two Harrier jets we were to fly together in the celebration. Neither of us new how to fly but that wasn't an obstacle....

Sparky and I were up on stage in Kane Hall and all the 800 seats were full and people were sitting in the isles. Vaudeville was the perfect way to get the people to see what I was seeing and Sparky was the perfect straight man. We looked good in top hats and the canes were a nice touch..... They needed to "get it" and the more that got it, the quicker heaven would arrive on earth....

Every time I awoke, I was filled with the wonderment of being alive. It was during sleep that the anticipation grew, Like a child awaiting Christmas morning....
