And the US winds up with a government owned financial system. There were many privately owned investment and capital companies, but the biggies were State owned.
And the economy worked for most people. There was a housing industry, domestic automobiles made, and while people didn't spend as much personal savings increased. Between Federal assistance and the improved economy a good education was affordable for most kids, and for every kid who wanted one.
As I understand the Conservative agenda, this would be a terrible outcome, that they'd rather see the country fail, people out of work and hungry, schools underfunded for those who could attend. All in the interest of ideology.
If they simply thought that Obama's policies couldn't work, they would say that. That they fear it won't work.
But they say they hope for failure. That's the rhetoric. They hope Americans suffer.
That's the coldest, cruelest, most unAmerican thing I can imagine. And I suspect these people wear flags in their lapels, and stand for the national anthem. And while doing so they are working to sabotage the chances of the average American family to live even a part of the American dream.

Let's assume the recovery plans work.
