Former member of the Warren Commission now a Democrat
Good ole Arlen Spector. Apparently the "Party of Lincoln" just couldn't stomach someone with any form of independent thinking and he finally had enough. I'm pretty sure his voting won't change things much but the symbolism is a huge nail in the coffin of neo-conservatism.
The day Al Franken is seated the Democrats will have attained their filibuster-proof 60 vote majority. I wouldn't be surprised if Olympia Snow and Susan Collins followed his lead in the months to come.
Tonight I'll be dreaming of sinking ships. Whether Spector will resemble a good rat or bad rat will probably depend on how well I digest dinner.
