This past election was about the economy, nothing more. There wasn't some grand ideological shift in the country. Like in 1992, it was "the economy stupid". Remember in 1994 when the GOP had a major electorial landslide and for the next couple of years Dems were jumping ship to switch to the winning party? Was that the Democratic party squeezing out moderates, or just some self serving politicians looking to ride someone else's coattails for their own political gain? Spector is a political parasite who sees the writing on the wall for his career, and is attempting to do anything in order to keep his position and power. He's a political crack addict looking for a new supplier for his fix.
If the Democratic party were a true haven for moderates, you'd see them in positions of power, not the current crop of far left zealots.
