Standard Democratic ideology: the best route to prosperity is to blow the kneecaps off the producers. But Obama is counting on the economic ignorance of his target audience on this issue.

What will happen is that this will go to Congress and get killed so dead there won't even be a spot left on the rug. By an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress, I should point out. Obama, who can't possibly be stupid enough not to know this, will get credit with his base for his gesture, and nothing will really change.
