This is actually positive news. Unlike the previous administration which stuck by the same losing strategies in Iraq (for FOUR years) and Afghanistan (for FIVE years), the new approach to AfPak is one of adapting to the situation.

TB will now claim Obama is doing exactly the same thing as Bush. What a load of crap! The strategy under the previous admin was to go into an area with force, kill as many bad guys as possible and leave, in which case the bad guys would return. Now with the additional forces Obama has sent, we go in and take an area, we leave forces to hold it, and on the heels of the marines comes the development aid. This is the NEW plan. The people will see once the Taliban has been chased out, in comes the engineers, construciton workers, educators, social workers, etc. This is what will win hearts and minds and is the only chance of ultimately winning this conflict.

Thank gawd we have intelligent leadership in this dangerous situation.
