In other words, "nation building."

Let's say one country invades another country. Deposes the government, killing the former top leaders and installs a puppet regime. That puppet regime is "elected" in a carefully staged process.

In the process of the invasion the economy is ruined, a large percentage of the population is displaced, the civil infrastructure dismantled and mobs rule.

In other words, "nation destruction".

What's next after that? Any thoughts? After all, there was all this talk about a democratic, stable, prosperous, integrated Iraq after Saddam. And Bush promised not to leave Afghanistan before it was rebuilt. (I know, I know. If the Afghans believed Bush it serves them right. That's another issue.)

What do you think is appropriate for the invader, aggressor, the occupier to do?
