...you know the GOP has lost its way.
But you know, I think we should acknowledge our own guilt in Pat's fall from grace. As soon as anyone not a wingnut had a kind word to say about Buchanan, the extremists turned on him like a pack of rabid dogs. As far as the present-day GOP is concerned, if you don't disgust and appall normal people, you're not ideologically pure enough.
You think by now we'd have learned that the best way to encourage moderation and rationality in the GOP is to keep quiet when we spot it, lest the Republican Inquisition be alerted and swoop down to kill it.
