What the Republicans are doing is dishonest, a big fat fucking lie. The Democratic Party members for the most part, although embracing some social solutions, are a far cry from the traditional and usually disparaging label of "socialist". It's a lie. It's propaganda at its core.

Every one of the issues you brought up actually exist. There's not a shred of distortion required in bringing them to the limelight. Who the fuck cares what their relative importance is in the grand scheme of things. By mentioning truths that matter to someone, it is by no means an indication of having loony tendencies.

But what's more telling is the topics you chose. All those issues have merit.

I happen to care deeply that our leadership felt compelled to put Bible quotes on governmental documents. It scares the hell out of me that people with their hand on the nuclear trigger feel that whacked out ancient texts have some bearing on modern foreign and military policy. The propaganda impact those covers would have had, had they seen the light of day during the early days of the Iraq War, could have been devastating to our troops. The message would have gone out to the Arab world that we were engaged once more in a Christian crusade.

So you'd like guns in your national parks? Is that what you're saying Tom? What percentage of national Democrats are in favor of banning light bulbs and trans-fats? None that I know personally are. Make it so it's financially in our best interest to avoid high energy bulbs and bad foods? Sure, as long as there are intelligent alternatives.
