We have to investigate these allegations of torture and either expose them for criminal acts, or acquit the accused perpetrators, once and for all. But you know that conservatives will never accept any investigative panel, but will accuse it of liberal bias.

It just hit me. Pick a respected Republican with military and POW experience, one who has been tortured himself. John McCain should lead the investigation! His personal experience and political background will make him qualified to study the problem, very eager to see the truth come out, yet no one can accuse him of having a personal axe to grind or a liberal bias. He will not allow innocent Republicans be punished, or guilty Democrats who allegedly collaborated to get away with anything, either.

It's the perfect solution. He's the only man both sides can trust.
