"We're targeting the K-5 demographic, Director."

You don't find wedging "information into our young people", particularly from one of the few government agencies with a mandate to be deliberately misleading and persuasive and downright confusing, to be somewhat uncomfortable? Maybe "creepy" is a better choice of word. You pitched a fit about a commercial where a kid wants his dad to buy a low-energy light bulb, for Chrissakes, and this doesn't bother you? Not, tham I'm all that surprised.

Even conceding the probable harmlessness of the site; just from the point of view of pure self-serving propaganda, its a very, very bad idea. It merely draws attention to the CIA and its mission, and gives ammunition to its enemies.

Headquarters should have a simple, informative, businesslike site with strictly the information it needs to present its official position, and nothing else. Even good guys need a party line. Anything else is, at best, some Washington PR hack with too much time on his hands and the inability to distinguish the fundamental difference between defending the nation and selling feminine hygiene products. At worst, it could evolve into something really obscene and grotesque.
