Health insurance providers
"Of the 138 health plans in the United States with at least 100,000 medical enrollees, 84 or 61% are nonprofit."
In 2008, Wellpoint, one of the largest two for-profit health insurance providers, had a net income of $2.49 billion on operating revenues of $61.58 billion. That's 4 percent. UnitedHealth Group, the other one, had net earnings of $2.98 billion on revenues of $81.19 billion. That's also 4 percent.
The business about "high school diplomas" is suspect, to say the least. I've checked some hiring sites, and they're a bit fussier than that. Anyway, is replacing them with some government civil service employee an improvement?
