It seems to have escaped your attention

AGW alarmism is the status quo.

That's the one-note samba we've heard in the MSM since Maggie Thatcher first started making political hay with this issue.

As for global warming itself, there are a number of relevant points:

1) The Earth is still emerging from the Little Ice Age, so warming is neither unexpected, nor alarming. Earth's climate changes. It has been both warmer and much colder and will be so again, no matter what we do.

2) The amount of said warming is itself contestable because of poorly sited sampling stations. This is the effect known as the Urban Heat Island (UHI), where urban sprawl has grown up around once rural areas where the instrumentation is located. Since you ride a bicycle, you should be well aware that cities retain heat and are by and large much warmer than the surrounding countryside.

3) As the Little Ice Age showed, cold is much more a threat to our species than a little warming. People were burnt at the stake because of the deteriorating (colder, wetter) climate, priests were sent out to exorcise advancing glaciers, and the Black Plague ravaged Europe. For children and other living things, warmer is very much better than colder.

4) In any event, the period of warming may have ended. Global temperatures appear to have leveled-off since the end of the century, and may be declining. Solar activity as reflected by very low/absent sunspot numbers appears to correspond to a cooling Earth.

5) Declining global temperatures in the face of modestly increasing CO2 falsifies the theory/hypothesis/conjecture of Anthropogenic Global Warming.
