OK, Tom, go check out Kos or whatever site you like to use to define "leftists" and show me the widespread support of Obama keeping Bush's policies on FISA, detainees, or whatever. You'll find plenty of outrage, wailing, and promises not to vote for Obama again in 2012. You won't find many people saying, "I'm sure it's OK now that it's Obama who is wiretapping".
I know a lot of people you'd consider "leftists" Tom and I don't know anyone, not one, who isn't pissed off and dissapointed in Obama on this issue. If there is a secret VIP room where they take off the masks and cackle with glee about how the NSA is now in "our" hands, then I guess I missed that membership drive.
My problem here is with your own inconsistent use of "Leftist".
When Democratic politicians are out of power and making moderate liberal campaign promises, you'll point to radical activists and bloggers and blog commenters and say that they represent real "Leftism" and thus we should be scared because it's those activists who represent what the Democrats will *really* do.
Now that Democrats are in power and pursuing modeate liberal policies, such as only changing things around the edges on FISA or detainees, then apparently *they* are the "Leftists" and the online ranters and ACLU members are, what?
