9MM works fine, unless your opponent is a 1500 pound Griz with a serious attitude. Then I'd opt for a chain gun, 50 cal, or larger.
I've shot calibers up to 44Mag. Not a big fan of the big ones. I tend to stick to the 45ACP when it gets down to the short n curleys. Yeah, it's old enough to be an antique, but it does exactly what it's supposed too when it counts.
Have a 40S&W and a 10MM Parker (collector piece, rarely fired, in fact, still have 15 rounds left in the box that came with it.).
And a stainless S&W version of the 45ACP MK II. That's the carry piece when needed.
No, I don't care for Glocks.
The more important thing is constant practice, at least twice a month once you've become competent. I shoot every week, sometimes twice a week. 50 round minimum, 10meters, 15 meters and 25 meters with the handguns, 100, 200 and 350 meters with the rifles.
Oh, 'PDW" = personal defense weapon
