If Europa's global liquid water ocean is 60 miles deep...
...as has been estimated, the pressure due to the moon's smaller mass will be no
greater than at the bottom of Challenger Deep, which should make exploring that alien
ocean to its very depths possible. The 25 mile long tether is also promising.
And Europa expert Richard Greenberg is providing lots of evidence that the ice crust
is only a few miles thick at most and maybe much thinner in spots. Plus it is more
than likely that the ocean leaks up onto the surface quite often.
