re: Mostly businessmen

But as far as the position you insist on adhering to, that the entire scientific community has honestly deluded itself is just as likely as the industry shills have, that is simply out of the question.

Nobody said anything about the entire scientific community. Most of this controversy has been driven by political entities like politicians or the United Nations climate groups. The output of such groups is selective, and scientists who don't fit the mold are largely left out of the results.

If you make a list of scientists who are heavy activist advocates either for or against the current climate wisdom, the lists are fairly short. Most scientists are either keeping out of the controversy as much as possible, or keeping low by paying lip service with the aforementioned "but..." comments on the tail end of climate papers that don't quite fit the agenda.

I don't have all the answers to the climate question. I don't even have most of them. But the conventional wisdom has some major holes in it that nobody will even address, much less argue specifically. But then, this has never really been about climate for the advocates.

There is a lot of power and trillions of dollars at stake here. The cap and trade bill being greased through Congress as I write this involves over $800 billion in new taxes funneled through the government, new powers over the private sector, and more loot to buy votes with. That is a hell of an incentive.
