Samurai, politicians, lawyers, bureaucrats and businessmen.

Yes, but the financial industrial complex has so much MORE to gain and lose. They also have a long and rich history of such maneuverings, in fact, with them it's not something you do on the sly, with no one watching; it's a respected profession, marketing and public relations, with its own journals, professional associations and university departments and industry awards.

But most important of all, the executives who do this for a living have an obligation to their employers, its their job, their responsibility, to further their firms' and stockholders' interests.
Like lawyers or politicians, they have a recognized professional responsibility to lie and cheat for their constituencies, subject only to their professional ethics, not a moral obligation to their professions or society. Unlike scientists and journalists who are disgraced when they get caught lying, these people put it on their resumés.

Your damned straight I don't trust these people. I don't like them very much, either.
