Free markets are superior to centralized economics not because they infallibly generate all the right answers, or are free of corruption, greed, and mistakes.

It's superior because it's more decentralized. Any system that is decentralized and diverse will be more robust than a monolithic system.

An idiot CEO can normally only do a limited amount of damage. An idiot "czar" in Washington can crash an entire country at once.
