Misoverestimating the threat.
The fact that a guy like that can get news coverage is scary enough. And his assessment of the threat is amazing.
Compare what is happening to Muslims with what is happening in the United States. If 3 American schools were being bombed by al-Qaeda every week, add another wedding and church service, and then 4 or 6 rural towns occupied after a firefight with Americans defending their villages, then there would be activity here comparable to a little part of what we are doing to them.
Americans tend to forget what we do to them. It's all about us.
