In a democracy, a secret, shadow government running covert operations is not a tolerable situation. Those secret agencies need to be accountable to the Congress. Period.
The US military has been abused for the last 8 years, it's equipment worn out, the troops overdeployed. The Bush administration did not include maintenance and replacement in it's budgets, and ignored the financial impact upon the Veterans Administratioin. That is an inherited problem.
As for the unemployment, that's also an inherited problem. It's easy to forget the cause of the current difficulties, which was the Bush Administration's policies.
There isn't any amount of fantasizing which will change those facts.
