I believe the ocean and plate tectonics were gone long before the resurfacing event. Recheck the article I think the end was a billion or more years ago. I've got to admit I've probably done Venus a diservice in my disinterest since I felt it had no hope of evidence for past or future life. These new results shows it still has a lot to teach us about our own planet beyond serving as the start of global warming studies.
