Most opinions on capitalism come from colossal ignorance on the subject. Of all the wealth on the Forbes 400 richest list, about 7.5 percent was from financiers in 2006(close to the peak of the most recent Wall Street boom). As far as corporate CEOs are concerned, a lot is made of bad actions that have been done by a tiny fraction of them. If you start talking about serious corporate abuses, and start listing company names, most people start to run out of names at five, and are starting to really sweat getting the list up to ten. How many major corporations are there in America?
I know what it takes to run a company. I've helped found some. It's no walk in the park.
Frankly, I believe the conviction that most of the wealthy don't really earn what they get is born of raw envy, bitterness, and self-justification.
