re: Figure out the health care plan yet?

The government has metastized into the health care system to such an extent that it has not been anywhere close to a market system for many years. Like anything else that is heavily subsidized, and the user is insulated from the economics, prices have skyrocketed and taxpayers are bending under the increasing load. The same thing is happening with education.

The solution is to begin easing the system--slowly--back to a point where market forces begin to kick in again. There are many ways to start this process.

Socialist economics is based on delusion and magical thinking. It's possible that Angell honestly believes that if the government controlled everything, we would get all the health care we needed and it would cost much less than it does now. People like her have had to shut entire sectors of reality out of their minds to keep this delusion active, ignoring math, history, experience, the status of existing government health programs, economic laws, and many other things.

But for the most part, this is about power. Delivery of good health care is much less important to those pushing a government-run system than the fact that it will be controlled by the government.

A good touchstone for this is to watch the reactions of statists when presented with workable non-statist ideas.

Note, for example, that solutions targeted to the minority that actually wants and can't get insurance are discarded almost immediately, and the push continues for solutions that will result in absorbing the entire electorate into a government-run system. There's not much power to be had in targeted solutions.
