Tom, could you at least concede...

that mega bonuses for the managers of distressed companies is wrong.

Even more distressing, were the upside down out of the box, RE loans. They were a disaster waiting to happen. High rate revolving credit that promotes massive debt for the middle class is wrong and is likely to be the next shoe to drop. Usery laws are more liberal now than they were 40 years ago, and millions of people are virtually enslaved by high interest rates, and late fees. Debt is so massive for many that it is mathmatically impossible for them to pay off within their lifetime without filing bankruptcy. People should not be led into this, in the interest of creating wealth.

The outrageous credit extention that has gone on since the revision of bankruptcy laws has been the equivalent of legalized crack being sold on school yards.

Sure, the market will always eventually correct itself, but sometimes someone needs to step in and do something to stop the bleeding.

We can argue about what and how, but surely we can agree that some intervention is required. The further we let things like this go, the more drastic and distasteful is the action that is likely to be taken. Self regulation would be nice, but it seems to be non-existent.
