As I was leaving Wiltshire to take a train back to London earlier this week, I spotted a new formation in the hills just past the White Horse at Silbury Hill. Upon stopping (where several cars were parked), we encountered two women on horseback who asked us to leave. I mentioned I had written the authorities to stop the hoaxers and make them responsible for the damage they were causing and she told me that the first circle that appeared, they cut out to the tune of at least 500 pounds damage, and that this new one was going to be another 500 pounds.
The thing is, it has become a mecca for the international tourists. In the beginning, the farmers were still charmed and scratched their heads in contemplation and amusement. Now they are damn well pissed, because they believe most are made by hoaxers.
