I think now is the perfect time to demand a balanced budget. If it isn't accomplished now, it never will be. This is a watershed moment for the country. Either we get spending under control now and reverse the course over Niagra, or we fall into the abyss.
Once the debt goes beyond GDP, our bonds will be downrated, the currency will lose value at an even faster rate, and the people we're borrowing from will begin to tighten the screws on us.
