"Refuses to deal?"
The Democrats refuse to consider any solution that doesn't hand the government all the power. They've been lusting after this huge chunk of the American economy for years, and by God they're going to shove it through.
Nobody except dimbulbs are being fooled by all the "competition" talk. A tax-supported government option, combined with new laws and mandates to cripple the private insurance industry, makes a mockery of the concept of competition. Obama wouldn't know what a real free market was if it bit him.
There are plenty of ways to create more competition in the existing insurance industry without having to ring in a Trojan Horse for single-payer.
