Oh man, remember when this happened to Babylon 5? JMS did an emergency rewrite to fit his five-year story arc into four after the last season was cancelled. Then when it was renewed, he had to come up with a years' worth of new stories. They were good, like all his work. But it wreaked havoc with a carefully-plotted story.
