Flame » in reply to This is how some Germans repented

My great uncle liberated some of the camps...

He fought with the Thunderbirds, and described the horror of Dachau as something that completely overwhelmed the soldiers seeing it.

I briefly met the father of my thesis advisor, clearly suffering from early stages of dementia- it was mentioned he had fought with the Thunderbirds, I mentioned my great uncle had as well- and all of a sudden, unprompted, he started speaking of the liberation of Dachau- he clearly had no problem with his memory of that day... he was crying as he spoke about it, and repeatedly saying it made us crazy for a while... (something my great uncle had said as well) and I got the impression that the rules of war were briefly forgotten when to came to some of the captured German guards.

Objectively, I can say that it was a terrible breakdown in discipline- letting the prisoners rip some of their guards to pieces- and it shouldn't have happened... at the same time I can't find it in myself to be too heartbroken about it...

But the cruelest, and most appropriate justice for the German guards would have been putting them all on trial in front of the world... their evil exposed for all to see, and live their lives- before execution- in cell. Give them time to reflect on their humanity that they threw away in their eagerness to serve their masters- only to lose everything.

Those that supported Trump threw away all their principles to do so, they reveled in being 'deplorables'. By selling off their principles, their morals, and their humanity they thought they would buy the title of 'winners'.

They lost anyway- and now they have nothing to fall back on. They are just Deplorable losers, and any attempt to claim the moral high ground now will be met with ridicule. They exposed themselves as bigoted hypocrites - and got nothing for it.
